2021 Whio Studio T10, T11, T12

 Today as part of our Matariki activities we made stars using the maths equipment. The children were very creative and had to use some good problem solving strategies to work their shapes out using different maths things. 

 We have been enjoying our visits from our new Ahuriri children. They will be joining Huritini from the start of Term 3. We can't wait! 

 Whio did an amazing job at their dress rehearsal today. Here is a sneak preview of the whole studio on stage for the finale...

 Last Friday Jenny from Te Tuna Taone - Urban Eel brought the Stormwater Super Hero trailer to school.  Maddie - there was games and you had to get the eel out to sea, if it beeps you are going the wrong way, like into the rubbish!  Mātai - we played snakes and ladders but it was eels and pipes. There was a giant dice!  Zac - we played video games about stormwater stuff. If the marble went through something that would pollute the eels, it beeped so you had to start again.  Ryan - I found out that you can put a cover on your drains and it will stop the dirty water coming in.  Marcus - we had to guess which thing was right for the tuna.  Kate - Jenny was handing out stormwater superhero stickers.\ Ella - there was a cool touch screen on the trailer.

We had Fun Friday on a Thursday this week because Friday is a Staff Only Day. That meant we got to have buddies, one of our favourite Fun Friday activities. When we meet with our older buddies, it is an example of Tuakana Teina .  Tuakana - teina  is a teaching and learning approach drawn from Te Ao Māori – the Māori world. It refers to the relationship between an older person ( tuakana ) and a younger person ( teina ). The meaning is literally “older sibling-younger sibling”. Today T10 and their buddy class, T30, played a Kahoot quiz together!
